Kristina called me this morning. Yay! Seems that I got it mixed up, that it was her that sent the email. She just didn't sign it and that she isn't Dr. Dobbs Nurse Practitioner, she is his nurse co-coordinator. It is true however, that he is swamped and does not have time to see all patients at Shriner's anymore. If things are looking good, he will not have the time to look. If, however, things are looking like there will be a need for casting or surgery, he will take a look. But because he will be back and forth from the OR, there could be a wait.
So, I suppose at some point, when Matthew's foot stabilizes, maybe we will start to see someone closer and only head back to St. Louis if there is a problem. I am trying to use the word 'when' and not 'if'. I am still clinging to the hope that at some point in the future, his foot will remain corrected and castings will be a thing of the past. Hard to do right now when we are seven years into this and I see a cast in the near future.
Last night, I was reading through my blog and found a comment from Dr. Dobbs about Matthew's talus that I had forgotten. During a cast change I had asked about his talus. His talus is still noticeable and Dr Dobbs admitted that it may always be prominant. Guess that makes me feel a bit better about seeing it again. I still think it means we are in for another cast when we go in two weeks.
I've decided. I am packing the crutches.

So happy that she got back to you! I do believe that it will be a 'when' and not an 'if'. Things take time, and while you may not know how things will play out, I do still believe it will happen for Matthew!
{hugs} Will we be seeing you on Wed.?
Don't stop posting such articles. I love to read stories like this. By the way add more pics :)
I'm consistently impressed by how dedicated you are to healing that little boy's foot. AMAZING! Looking forward to hearing about what comes next!
After reading your Paranoia Post (and getting myself a wee bit paranoid as well!) I have to say I breathed a sigh of relief with this one! I'm glad Kristina called you back and was able to give you a little more peace of mind about the whole thing.
I had to laugh at the ironic twist to this whole situation: you WANT to see Dr. Dobbs, yet b/c of his new schedule that means it would be b/c there's something wrong. But you DON'T WANT something to be wrong, so therefore you might not be seeing Dr. Dobbs. :) Nothing's ever easy, is it?! :)
Great news about the talus too -- I TOTALLY get this. We have a similar thing we're dealing with (with Grace's MA - metatarsus adductus). It's just one of those things that's difficult to correct, and she too might very well have some curvature that we can't do anything about. Yet I just hate looking at it, you know? It makes me think she's on the brink of another relapse, yet right now it's only cosmetic. Ugh ... at least this gives you a little bit of hope.
I agree with "Anonymous" -- keeping posting these updates, as it helps to be able to walk beside you on this journey and lift you up. And good call on the crutches. :)
